can you hand water the rockwoll cubes if the plant is 6 foot tall and there is no hydro system? And how often. 600w HPS with two 6foot Big Bud in 7th week. Thanks

Yeah, you can hand water, but its a pain in the ass! Good thing your almost finished. How often depends on the medium around your cube. Check it regularly.

you'll have to water quite often I'm sure, I have a plant that is 1 ft tall in a 4" rockrool cube that I have to water every other day.

my rockwool gets watered with 2 drips a second for 15 minutes, 4 times a day every 6 hours. I couldn't imagine having to manually water just rockwool. Are you just sitting the rockwool in the bottom of a container? If you dont have soil or hydrocks or anything around it covering it up itll eventually start rotting away.

i know, I'm starting to deal with this right now, but I keep cloning off it so that I can save as much of it as possable. but I don't have enough room at the moment to get it into a bigger pot right now. it sucks, i didn't plan as well as I thought I did.

ah man that is a tough situation. How many more clones do you think you'll get off her? Whats your rockwool sitting in right now?

yea! to me it seems you can never plan enough, theres always something coming up that you didnt expect.but it does keep you thinking for better ways of doing your grow.I love this shit

It has the meshey blue stuff around it in the 5 gallon bucket. I water it during the day cycle with about 12 ounces per day/plant. is this too much??

I have already taken 15, and I'll get maybe 10 more by the time all my shit in the flowering room is able to be moved out to create room. i so didn't plan right..... I'm working on it though.

yeah, i use the hydroton once they outgrow the rockwool cubes.

and yeah, constantly lookin for ways to improve the operation.

I hand water my 3" cubes that are on 3" thick slabs in a container. I water every 2-3 days. After watering you want 1" of water in the bottom. When that is absorbed, water again.

ok, i ve been hand watering and they look great. The thing I wonder is that I always remove the old/over fertalized leaves. This seems to give the new more ambitious leaves to grow and mature. Is this correct? It seems to work, but i dont know everything. what do you think?

After awhile if you start taking off the dead leafs in large numbers then you have some stuff to worry about. I dont normally take off the whole leaf set, if theres a harsh burn on the tips of my leaf i will just take that tip off and not the whole leaf. And yes, definently get hydroton for rockwool. It holds the moisture better!

Thank you toolage, Should i just put the rockwoll in the middle of hydroton in the 5 gallon bucket? Would that be sufficient? Thanks again

yeah that would be the best way to do it, just make sure that your hydroton covers the hell out of the rockwool. direct light will start making green fuzzies on your rockwool to let you know its starting to rot.
