RIU Instant message

Should RIU have a Instant message feature?

I think RIU needs an instant message feature instead of having to email people back and fourth through your RIU mail.
Obviously if one was created for this site, there needs to be an ignore option. :wink:

What do you think?
 
I think that this is a site for letting people see the real world, and show them how things are done. It's a weed site man.. This ain't fuckin fakebook hahaha

Yes, I am aware of where I am at. I was asking for the sake of people who have been here long enough to have "friends" and not for a constant form of communication. As people who have been here knows that if you receive a PM your message box feels up pretty quick. A Instant message feature would be useful to ask a quick private question without having to create a whole new thread about something pointless that no one cares about.
 
I dunno. Too many trolls and their buds out to instant spam you.
It could possibly open computer ports that could allow your ip to be given out?

I understand you concern. But an IP is not a locating device as it only gives a general area of where your location could be. I think a lot of people are using proxies now anyway. :lol:

But, what about having it where the only people that can contact you is in your friends list?
 
This still isn't fakebook. And I don't understand what you mean by you know where you are? I sure hope you do. And yeah I've been a member (different acc's) for a good year (been off the grid) and I can still say this is not fakebook.. Sorry :/
 
....we just exchange info via pm to stay in contact outside of r.i.u. I've met up with a few members over the years that way.

The friends only wouldn't be bad but I think most here like to remain anonymous.

I mean I know where I'm at, as in I know I am on a grow site. I also don't need you telling me that this isn't "fakebook" aka Facebook as you say. I'm also aware that this isn't Facebook.

There's a lot of reasons someone might wanna just have a quick chat.

Maybe they wanna ask a pro grower some newb questions but don't wanna bother the person by filling up their PM box.

I mean, if you plan on talking to somebody for a bit, instant message would be cool. This doesn't have to be FB for people to wanna talk. And a shit ton of us here hate FB.

I agree with this...Great response.
I also agree with the hating of FB. I can't stand that virus ridded place. If I wanted to poke you I would take you to bed. :lol:
 
As do I.

Let's say your a "pro grower" and as soon as you log in you get a shit ton of messages asking you "what's the best strain in the world" you'd get pretty mad damn quick.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, just FYI I'm on here to talk about, learn, and share with my fellow growers. And if this turns into another assbook site I will unsubscribe. I think it's cool the way it is
