I'm looking for some input on the condition of my veggies. Although I've been a member here sometime and have attempted grows in the past I am still fairly new to it. The first 4 pics are pairs of two mothers. I am currently attempting to clone from them as well. I am attaching pictures of my two young maturing mothers (from bag seeds), two bag seed plants and two NL (very young), also i have pics of the clones i am attempting to root.

In hydro let it water for 15 minutes then let roots dry for about 4-6 hrs.

does this water circulate or just sit ? i would add an air stone and pick up a cheap fish tank air pump to keep the water oxygenated

@swungchris I've got a lot of airstones going 24/7 so the water is highly oxygenated. The water stops when the lights are off and the roots then have about 6 hours to dry.

@rob the water isn't circulated, but it doesn't have any nutrients and I've got airstones going in there as well.

how long does it usually take a clone to root?

The "rooting" can happen anywhere from 2/3 days up to 10/12. After that, I usually dump them and start again. Your "mothers" look very healthy, but as stated by Robert, I too am a "dirt" farmer, and not qualified to comment on hydro.

If you can SEE the water when watering Hydroton from the bottom up, your giving it too much water. The water should not be visible from the plant area. You'll get some nice salts there and algae if you continue to allow this.

Either add about 2" more Hydroton material, or reduce the amount of water your adding.

When you get an air pump, make SURE it's 1w/gallon of water in your reservoir. Many people get a crappy quality pump for $10 that only has 3-5 watts that underperforms hugely.

You'll also dig H2O2. Add 3-5mL/gallon every 3 days-ish and it'll keep extra oxygen and make your roots super duper happy. Doesnt impact pH or ppm either.

I am using it for DWC though. I figured as long as the water is properly oxygenated I didn't have to worry about over watering. I will have to invest in stronger air pumps I will admit, but I do have a lot of air stones attached. Also I feel like the H2O2 is a pretty simple, smart, an obvious idea lol thanks for sharing.

Ok, the last time I posted in this forum I was asking for input on my vegetables. Well, I've decided to flower one and try to get a few straight out the shell. I posted some concerns about the straight from shells in a different forum, but I figured I may as well just post here and ask for some advice. Please give these a check up and let me know what you all think. I've got one I'm kinda concerned for, because it is light green in the center. I was thinking maybe because of the unusual circumstances of straight from shell. Just let me know what you think all input is welcomed.

no ideas of why they are yellowing in the center? is it a nitrogen deficiency?? please i need help.

Fix your watering issue first as I said a few posts above. You need to do that ASAP!

You said above to someone else that your watering with no nutrients. If you planted a seed, then the seed itself has a tiny bit of nutrients to let the plant sprout up for a week. If you planted a clone, it has none of this of course. So, at this point, you need nutrients! May I suggest Humboldt Nutrients line for you? I'm using it in Hydroton, and am about to update my grow thread with pictures from 3 weeks into vegging where the plants are about 18-20" tall. Humboldt Nutrients are inexpensive for their base grow/micro/bloom, and only the Humboldt Roots/ProZyme are expensive (although very helpful!). Otherwise, I'd suggest googling "Ask Lucas" for a thread on another forum which talks about using the GH line of nutrients in the type of medium and systems your using. It's a very inexpensive way for excellent growth, although focuses more on growing environment than using additives that cost more money.

Oh, and fix the watering thing still if I havent already said it twice.

My watering problem is the level of the water and you thought I should make sure I invest in worthy air pumps, right? I will work on lowering the water now, but I thought I could give it time to go down on it's own. Then you think I should add nutrients to it?

my plants are still lime green as in the pics posted before and they seem to only be getting worst. i emptied the water out and refilled it at a lower level and i have nutrients in the solution. could it just be a specific deficiency like nitrogen or magnesium or something?

give it a couple days to see if they bounce back but yeah you looked like you were drowning them
