drain to waste coco.

the syphon effect, res level cannot be above level of the halos or it will leak, i read.

so you have to keep res about half full if using the blue drum style ones we see used in this so often, unless pots sit higher.

what if you build a box to house the res to pump feed up into tent, sitting on top? that way i can use 80-90% of res if i wanted to correct?

if this works, drainage was thinking can be just gravity, one less pump/part.

for a mini 2x2 or 2x6 style space. anything bigger requires enough space for typical setups.

any thoughts? let me know!

If you’re going to run a res under the tent why not do flood and drain it works really well when the res is under the tent and makes it super simple setup. You can make the table the whole tent floor size and just have your fill and return lines run up through the tent floor. Build a frame to set the tent on and that way you got room for the res to fit under. It’s a great way to grow. Not that DTW coco isn’t but this way you don’t have to worry about single pots of coco with individual drain pans. I had a buddy do this setup with a 2x2x4 tent and it worked great. He used big concrete mixing tubs from lowes for his tables and used bricks to fill the tables because the hydroton become a PIA to clean. Just a thought. With flood and drain you don’t have to worry about res temps like with DWC

Thanks for the reply!

For a sec I thought I couldn’t find what I described because I wasn’t noticing an obvious physics flaw lol but basically yes! That was all I was trying to ask.

basically, this but with the res/waste under the plant. dtw but physically resembling a hempy bucket style, to utilize vertical space.

I just rather ask than find out after the build that it won’t work for an obv reason. I dont see this often if at all. mjcoco diy did not specify.

this would be cool as hand watering adds up time but love coco lol.

Not a problem. Tee in a check valve at the highest point in the line to act as a vacuum breaker. It will allow air into the line and stop the siphon but won't let water out.
