I am new to the forum and have a small question. I bought a 1000w shoebox MH setup. Im not fond of the shoebox or the reflector it came with. It is a complete stand alone unit. Has its own ballast, base, reflector, power cord, everything. Is it feesable to remove the guts out of this and buy a new reflector and rewire this so that the ballast and everything is contained in a seperate box? I got the shoebox light for REALLY cheap and it works great, it just gets WAY too hot and want to reduce the weight of the light.

just make shure u use the correct guage wire and stuff dnt need ur house or wherever burnt down,,, and dnt be like my friend unplug ur ballast before u operate on it lol

wheres a good place to pick up an empty ballast box i can use? the ballast it self is decent sized. gonna need a fairly large box.
