Hey I read in another thread that u can use reptile heat lamps for supplemental heat, is this true? They guy said he uses them at night during the flowering and I was wondering wouldnt that give off to much light for your plants to flower properly?

yeah it would fuck it up big time. get a space heater if you need heat and tape over the power on light even that will cause hermies.
I've heard of reptile lights used during lights on because they emit UV light which MAY enhance potency.

Thanx man thats wat I was thinking. Yea i have a space heater now and did exactly that in taping the power light, but now the prob is that the coils get hot and red and they reflect a lil glow off the walls, do u think this is enough light to hermie them also?

I'm pretty sure it's enough, 'specially being it's in the red spectrum. I use one of those ceramic heaters, they don't emit any light.

Most reptile lights are mostly UVB light..which reptile use to keep warm and to "bask" in..every thread I rewad about thse reptile lights was to make the plant produce more resin..more uvb equals more resin..please google into this, and rtead up on it..ALOT of people have reported that using one or 2 uvb cfl's realy WORKS...

ceramic heater ? could u explain the diff. if u dont mind
I don't know how they work sorry. Instead of heating wire red hot they heat a semi conducting ceramic material hot (I'm not sure, never gave it much thought) They're much smaller then the conventional ones. Another option is the oil filled radiator heaters but they don't have forced air circulation.

You guys are talking about two different things.

Both screw into an Edison "regular" light socket.

One is a uv light that emits actual light you can see. Barley see but you can see it. That is what produces more trichs in a plant and people use them in veg and flower to promote resin glands.

The other bulb you’re talking about is a heater. This is a bulb that emits zero light, just heat. If you want tight internodes you don’t want your temps to waver more then ten degrees during night and day so you use the heater during the night cycle to regulate the temps. They make them in 60w 150w and 250w

Both are used in reptile cages one to give them actual heat to make them more active and the other with UV rays is for there health. Where reptiles exist in nature is where there is more UV light. Like a desert climate.
