replacing a bad clone with good

I have a horrible kush clone that I want to replace with a white rhino clone that seems strong and is developing a healthy root system.

The question is, can i just uproot the kush out of the soil and just place the clone in or do I need to use fresh soil and a clean container?

I don't think it should have. the clone was of NL x Big Bud and it just did not want to take or grow. It was almost all yellow and dying except for yje tippy top, so I tried the soil. It's a fresh bag of foxfarm ocean/ once it went into tje medium it just gave up and didn't even try to grow.
