Regarding Cloning Supplies???

Hello people,
Now that I'm at the midway point and all of my plants have revealed their sex to me, I will begin the flowering phase. However, before I adjust my lighting schedule I'm going to begin clipping my clones. Now here's what I've got....

* Plenty of ph adjusted water (ph of 6.5)
* Adjustable heating mat
* Rooting Gel (Root-tech Cloning Gel)
* B'cuzZ Power Plugs (50pc bag)
* Plastic Cloning Container that came with 25 Jiffy-7 Peat Pellet Plugs
* Clean and Sterilized Razor Blades

I don't necessarily plan on using the Jiffy Peat Pellet Plugs, which is why I picked up the B'cuzZ Power Plugs. I know more or less the preparation process involved however, I noticed that the cloning containers clear cover :mrgreen: has no ventilation holes. Is that okay? Should I poke a few holes on the top for ventilation or should I just leave it be??? As usual of course, any questions, comments and/or suggestions are always welcome, thanks.

Sounds like you just about have everything you need. It's OK to poke a few holes in the top of the dome for ventilation and helps keep the inside of the dome from getting too hot(since you will be using a heating mat). And since I mentioned the heating mat, keep an eye on those plugs so they don't dry out. Keep your clones misted. Some people leave the dome on for about 4 days, then take it off. I leave it on the whole way through. See what works for you.

Thanks brother. :mrgreen:
I was thinking of putting 6 evenly spaced pen or pencil sized holes. Do you think I should add more or less???

Well here we are 24 hours into the cloning process. I've managed to keep the container between 85F when the heating mat is off and about 90F when the mat is on. The humidity is high and the B'cuzZ plugs are still moist. I've been checking them every couple of hours or so, breathing on them, misting them when necessary, etc..etc.. Most of them are wilting quite a bit though. I don't know if this means that they too wet or too hot or a combination of the two???

Do you have the dome on??? Mine start to wilt if I leave the dome off for too long. Experiment with taking it on/off. You also may be over-misting. Just lightly "spritz" them 2-3 times a day. I leave my heating mat on LOW 24/7.

Its pretty amazing how many ways there are to do things.

I clone in a small, RubberMaid tub ... about 15 gallons. I do a DWC type system with RockWool, 1" net pots, RO water with no nutes, two airstones, and one dual-outlet pump.

I take my cuttings using the same "pruning" shears that I trim my bud with. I use rooting powder instead of the gels. I've found that the gels go bad after a time.

I just take the cuttings, dip them into cloning powder and stick them into the RockWool. They then go into the net pots, then into the holes that I drilled in the lid of the tub. I almost always get a 100 percent rooting success.

No heating pad and no dome is used. I use two, twenty-watt floros throughout the cloning process. From there, they are moved directly under the 600 HPS to start their veg cycle.

Yeah I have had the dome on since I set it up. The mat is on low, the only problem with the mat is that it shuts off after two hours. When it came on before it brought the thermometer on the inside up to about 95F!!!! I'm trying to get it down to about 80F to 85F. I have only misted one time when I first set it up and the dome has stayed foggy and dripping since. I have had one cfl desk lamp on about 6" from the dome and on for about 28 hours now.

What should I be doing differently???
