Reflective Surface Question

So the more reading I do the more I'm leaning towards using a matte white paint as the reflective base for my grow tent.

I'm currently using aluminum foil in a little makeshift grow box for the time being and apparently foil reflects more heat than it does light and doesn't actually reflect much light.

My question is about the kind of paint to get that would be safe for the plants and also if I should finish it with any kind of sealer or whatever.

The grow tent isn't fully built yet but the surface I would be painting on is a plastic tarp material so I'm thinking of just getting a paint sprayer applicator to do the job.

Any other insight and info would be appreciated.

i would definitly get mylar, Or if u dont have 20 bucks for the mylar, get shiny wrapping paper. If you want The most Yeild. I have had both mylar and white paint. I'd definitley go mylar or wrapping paper. Though it does have it hassle. u cant get it wet., u cant realy clean it , it just smears and stuff . But if your not spraying u shouldnt have to worry.

Ok but I'm weighing the benefits of both in my situation. Mylar is about 90-98% reflective, but also absorbs more of the heat same with aluminum foil, which can be as low as 60% to 80% reflective. Matte white paint however can be up to 80% to 85% reflective and absorbs significantly less heat while reflecting light in all directions, but the metal substitutes reflect spots.

I also have to apply this to some unflat surfaces and wrinkling reduces reflectivity.

matte paint wil work but high gloss is more effient at reflecting the light. matte is dull becaues it absorbs and scatters light. mylar is the best.
