Red Stems?

The fan leaves stems always turn red. My plants are healthy, nice green leaves and everything, but why do the stems always turn red? Do they need something or does this just happen?

Depending on genetics some strains will have some reddish tinting to areas other than just the leaf stems. But if it seems to be a problem then it could be one or several. A nitrogen deficiency can cause red stems, but are the rest of the symptoms of a nitrogen deficiency there? It could be a phosphorous deficiency too. Potassium problems can cause red stems. Can you find any symptoms of any of the above besides red stems on your plants? If not then I would say it is genetics but if you do then you know what your problem is by seeing what problem each will cause in what way where on the plant and what else would go with it and then applying the solution.

epson salts helps with that it wont make it go away but stop the xpancion ...i give my plants sum once a week about a 1/2 a gram with a gallon watter . the reddish apears in the smallest branches and near the leafs stems and causes dry stems . it is like a rusty dust when advance damage stems ... try it it wont kill the plant if use at a small rate...

Most will say a mag diff. Also you could try some micronutes or the salt as mentoined above. It's normal to have some red stems. It still smokes just fine. Someone here also mentioned they always get red stems under cfl's.

My stems got a reddish purple on my 1 sativa and 3 hybrids. I've been told it's due to the cold overnights. After 3 nights of upper 30's here my newer growth started to show purple as well (the leaves). Doesn't indicate any type of trouble with the plants so far
