Real Unemployment Rate is 23%

This is for all those bushies that shot their mouths off about how great the economy is doing and how low unemployment is ... I stated before those unemployment rates were bullshit ...

The Real Unemployment Rate is 23%: How and Why Jobs are Vanishing from America
The federal government claims the unemployment rate for 2004 was 5.5% But the government’s “unemployment rate” statistic is a propaganda device. It does not count as “unemployed” people who are “not in the labor force.” According to economist Richard DuBoff, participation in the labor force by working-age males has been drifting downward for more than 40 years. Therefore, the government’s official “unemployment rate” is an increasingly misleading statistic.

Thanks GR for posting this. I have argued many times on this forum the falsities of government statistics when it comes to unemployment. I've noticed a lot more illegals hanging out around the usual places, Home Depot etc. When the illegals can't find work, you know there's a problem. The housing crunch, a really big deal here in Vegas where 2-3 thousand people a month are being evicted from their homes, is putting the stops on new construction, and the construction usually done after someone buys a new home, landscaping, pools etc. I know a lady that designs pools. 2 years ago she was doing 3-5 pools a week, now she is lucky to do 2 a month.

Illegals are great.

If they can't find work, then hopefully they will go back to Mexico where the U.S. has shipped the jobs to .

And quit overburdening our social network systems and Jail capacity!

It must be really great to have a political bias that relishes anything negative. If you two, GR and Med, were really concerned with the unemployment rate, you'd be yowling to eliminate the income tax in it's entirety and replacing it with a national sales tax.

I know this is WAY to difficult for you two to fathom, so no need to answer.

Excuse me, How in the fuck does Income Taxes figure into the unemployment rate? The Bush Administration has cut taxes to the bone for Corporations and big business. And yet they still ship jobs out of the United States, Sometimes to countries that have Higher Tax Rates than the US.

Unemployment Figures that are released by the Government are only "New Filings", they are not counting those who are currently on benefits or those who's benefits have ran out.
Personally the figures that GR has posted are more on the correct side of the equation.
It's not that GR, Med or I relish negative news, we are trying to point out that things are not as they seem to you conservatives .... Take off the "rose colored glasses" Vi.

Vi, you know a national sales tax would favor the rich. The poor have to buy goods to survive, an 18-30% sales tax would certainly be a huge burden on those that hardly pay any income tax or get an earned income tax credit. The rich would certainly benefit from having their 50-500K taxes removed. Just think of all the crap they could buy, even with the huge sales tax burden. A national sales tax would eviscerate the seniors on a fixed income.

Stay tuned, Dankster ... I'll get a link together that will answer that question for you.

Med sez:

You stay tuned too, Med. I'll start a new thread regarding the Fair Tax within a couple of days. All of your poihts above, while sounding logical are totally false. Not saying you're lying ... but only that you've been lied to.
