Re-Usable Shopping Bags Instead of Smart Pots

I begin to wonder if it would work, and in fact, I'm having great success with them right now. You can find them anywhere, and they do the same job as the smart pots by keeping the roots trimmed back by air flow. If you find some really cheap ones, double them up by placing the seams perpendicular to one another as to not have the seams in the same spot. Wal-Mart offers them two for $1. That's a hell of a deal if you ask me. Anyone caught using reusable grow bags are sure to find an extra penny in their pocket!!

I have wondered if they would throw off the PH or have any negative effect, this seems promising. The size of these bags is perforce for my fairly narrow but tall grow space (2'x2'x5') If I could get 2 x 7Gal bags in there the roots should have plenty of space to get super tall.

I grow in coco, which has been said to have it's own pH problems due to salt build-up, but i have not experienced any problems thus far.

I tried this for a full run and the harvest was much closer to that of a plastic pot than a smart pot. I used one i just picked up at the grow expo, and they are all obviously made differently and results will vary, but for the few bucks and the end results i will stick with name brand pots.

tried them right next to name brand bags, I too saw an unfortunate waste of time. The materials are different and I assume the reusable shopping bag failed to offer a nice network for small root tips with in the bag as well as the name brand fabric bags did. I pulled them out, the root systems looked different not pruned the same if at all. But try it,

id try anything twice, just to make sure. well, maybe not this again.

I have clones the same strain, same age, same light rotation, same everything, except one's potted in your standard #3 Black Plastic pot with added drainage holes while the other is in Wal-Marts blue reusable shopping bags. Sub if you want auto response. Expect in about 40-50 days

Bet yer' bippy, they do! Get em' sometimes for FREE at krogers, and they last LONGER than "Smartpots", sorry, high $ hydro stores!

Second, Wal-Mart re-usable shopping bag. Notice no roots running the bottom.

Lastly, the standard #3 Black Plastic Pot w/ added drill holes on the bottom and up the side 1/2 way. Notice the roots running the bottom
