Rapid Rooters / in tray

Plants have been in tray for about 10 days. Looking good. No roots at the bottom of tray though. Is it possible, or is it wise to take them out of the trays, just temporarily to check on root growth and then place them back in without damaging them? Thx.

I just feed them a little the other day with a little from each of the general hydroponics trio with about 150 ppm. Ph was 6.5

What happened to the rest of the plants? A lot of empty spots lol. Looking good though once they get in your buckets they’ll darken up.

Lol, this is my 1st dwc grow, so I’m taking it slow. Using a 5x5 tent. 1 1200w led vipar spectra, going to get another light next month. Any recommendations within a good price budget?

Also another quick question for all u fine people. What’s your opinion on those light movers? Would another light be beneficial more or a light mover? Or both lol? Just looking to stay in budget.

I don’t use them if I need to move light I simply build another.

I would have planted those within days of sprouting. The plants have a problem - leaves discoloring and no roots out the bottom at 10 days old - I would plant them. Good luck.

I use Rapid rooters for cloning. I've tried starting seeds in them once and find they stay too wet and may cause issues (I think you're seeing the issues now) I agree with the above post, good luck

I’ve always used rr for seeds. That with burpees self watering trays never ran into any issues. The trays the op is using however aren’t the best but if done right they present zero issues.

Thanks for your input friends, I will take all of your expert opinions into account. I pulled 1 of my rooters out yesterday to inspect it. It looks healthy, great white roots growing, just haven’t reached the bottom yet. Maybe I just planted them to shallow in the rooter at the beginning u think? I’ll keep monitoring them. If I don’t see bottom roots by a few more days I will put them in the buckets and keep u all updated.

I hear you, I think it's kind of a personal choice thing, I use a blend of perlite/Vermiculite in 2 inch pots for seed starts because they self-regulate the bottom watering better, but that's just my opinion (and could be as much old habit as anything else?) but for clones rapid rooters all the way!

Op, I wouldn't try to take them out if they looking good like you said, prob best to leave them alone, you'll see when they start to grow..

That said I'm the first one that would be peaking at them! Lol.. so be very gentle if you do and it shouldn't hurt them but I wouldn't disturb them more than once every 3 or 4 days, good luck!

Original poster ..once in a while we digress, so 'op' tends to bring it back to answering the original question

The risk I see with trying to take them out of the tray is if you squeeze them at all it's possible to damage the Taproot. Honestly I tend not to bother my seedlings, but I start them a different way. I only started once in Rapid rooters and I didn't have great luck, but other people swear by them as seen above and many other threads, so you will figure out what works for you before long, growing's kind of a journey.. Good luck!
