radiant temperature or shade temperature?

i just got a 600w hps and the radiant temp 6" below the light is in the 90's the temp in the shade next to the light is 82 which one should i go by?

Did the same tests... Also, should ducting run air through the cool tube and out the box or should I let that air that runs thru the cool tube act as an intake?

best way is the measure temps under lights in a shady place.try to measure the temp as close to the top of the plants as possible, put the meter under the light and cover it with a paper or something like that.

i guess its a meter of temperature control, if you can control your temperature to a good range by using the cool tube as an intake its good enough, it will suck the hot air that goes up.
if not that let it suck air from the outside but you will need another fan to replace the air in the cab.

Forgot to mention... I also have a 65 cfm pc fan for intake and 435 cfm for exhaust
