ok, I've been looking for this for ages:

any kind of CFL socket to wall output adapter. preferably AUS (type I).

I googled, searched hardware stores, big W.

Remember: I live in AUS, so wallmart is not an option. The hardware stores here don't have them

actually i just read the RIU faq. It point out the obvious and says take apart an old lamp. how did i not think of that.
