R/O Systems. I Need To Buy A Good One. Any Suggestions??

Hello RIU!! i am slowly building the best little grow room i can. i live in temps of upwards of 115+ in the summer time. so i need an A/C unit. but my next purchase will be an R/O system!! i see 5 stage, 6 stage systems. and ones that add stuff. which system should be looking to get. i do not need that much water every day, but a good 50-75gpd, should be perfect for my application. my price range is between $100-$280. more if its the best system ever. i would like to hook it up under my sink and use the little faucet adapter on the side for it to flow out of. i just need to fill gallon jugs with it. and drink it and possibly use it to cook. and if its safe enough for that then to my dog too. hes spoiled and does NOT get tap water. so does anyone have any info for me on a good R/O system? i see eBay has them roughly cheap, and with free shipping. so i may pick one up form there. i like and trust eBay, cant beat Paypal buyer protection!! thanks in advance for any help that can help guide me in the right direction!!

The quality varies across the board, but it's a good idea to get a good quality 3 stage system or a 4 stage system with DI stage at stage 4. A full size system using 10" filters is also better than a compact RO system. Also 100gpd membrane would be a good idea as would a membrane flush valve. Also another must is a carbon pre filter stage before the membrane. It is also a good idea to fit valves onto the inlet pipe, waste water pipe and product water pipe to seal water in under pressure whilst not in use as this will help the life of your RO membrane.

I dont know of any good brands in the states but here in the UK Osmotics is just about the best quality brand you can buy. Carefull with the cheap and nasty RO systems that use naff quality filters and membranes and/or dont have a carbon block prefilter stage before the RO membrane and sometimes also no flush valve.

i see a bunch of systems on eBay. i see a 6 stage system and 5 stage systems. is a higher stage better? or should i specifically stick to a 4 or 5 stage? i really need a system, like yesterday. i have read something about systems omit waste water? the system i was looking at was this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...15149&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_9507wt_1037. then i was going to put the little skinny faucet with the little black plastic lever next to the main faucet for so i can fill up gallon jugs from the second added faucet (i hope i explained the second faucet correctly). i must get something by Sunday!!! i HATE going to the store and getting ripped off on water every week. i need to have my ppm at 0! i have been going to random store and keep getting different water every week. i think it may be affecting my plants. if that system is not efficient, can you please find a system being sold on eBay that i can buy here in America?? it would be highly appreciated!!!!!!!

hydrologic makes really good RO filters.
check em at ezhydroshop.com

i just found that on eBay, or one made by them, it is only a 3 stage system. but it seems as if it will do everything i need it to. does the stage matter that much? is a 6 stage better then a 5? better then a 3 or 4??

this is made by Hydrologic, it is also the one they sell at the hydro store i go to. i need to cut corners somewhere. i do not mind supporting the shop i go to and they service i get is quite frankly priceless, so i do not mind shelling out a little extra coin, they hook me up with 10% off every item i go in (which has been every other day). but i have got to save a few bucks the R/O system! will this unit get me by? it is the same one they sell at the shop.... http://cgi.ebay.com/Hydrologic-Stea...ultDomain_0&hash=item19c776e054#ht_500wt_1054. my discount basically takes care of the taxes only. so i basically pay full retail (which is starting to hurt the wallet a lil). will that 3 stage system do exactly what i need it to do?? i need 0 ppm R/O water for my coco.

i just did some quick research on the Watts and it sounds wayyyyyyy to complicated for me. the back wash gets stored in your water heater? and i was told they do use more energy. im looking for something to use little to no energy. i have no idea how water systems even work. shit is confusing the hell out of me. i just need R/O water. and preferably a system under $200. been spending a lot of money these past few weeks to get my set up just perfect and i still need a Co2 generator or tank, and a portable A/C unit. these are the last 3 things i need to get. then i need a combo meter, but that is another story.

*save a lil more or check to see if they got deals on a merlin pro by hydrologic :) plug and play, its that easy.

can anyone tell me how good the Hydrologic system is? i see one for sale on eBay for only $179.99 free shipping. seller has 100% feedback. thinking of just picking that system up. will tht get my water to 0 ppm? im also wondering if that is the correct form of Reverse Osmosis water i need. can someone please fill me in. someone here had mentioned Hydrologic makes good filters. do they make good systems as well?? i need to buy one today!!!! please let me know soon if possible

i see a bunch of different units on eBay. 5-stage, 6-stage. with 4gal tanks, without. stages plus DI. i need any system under $250, 100gpd...that is all i know i need!!! and that the water needs to be at 0ppm. i see many different units. i have been told by the guy at the hydro shop to get the Hydrologic unit. i can save $100 by buying it on eBay. i have been spending a fists full of dollars getting everything else for my grow, i need to cut a corner somewhere. and on the R/O unit is where i choose to try and save some money. can someone please point me in the right direction. shit! pick the damn thing out for me. but please give good reasoning on why i should buy said unit. im not looking for a "buy this one" type of answer, i would also like someo kind of feedback on said unit. i live in climates that get upwards of 115 degrees!! thats fucking ungodly hot!! i never leave my house in this weather, but i need water!! so i go to the store, i go to the $.25 vending machines. im sick of it!!! can someone please help point me in the right direction?! freaking out man im freaking out man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol!

Don't get a Kenmore. Not bad, just really overpriced for the volume and your paying for a faucet and tank you don't need. (to be fair, they aren't marketing it as a hydro product and it wasn't made to be)

so will ANY DI filter make it 0 ppm??? i see a lot of units on eBay really similar to this one? as long as it it this set up, with 6 stages, i should be good to go? this is from the same website, except a store on eBay. i found this unit: http://cgi.ebay.com/Zero-0-ppm-Reef...iances_US&hash=item19c120bb63#ht_11302wt_1037

i have also heard that this would be a good unit, but it costs more and i do not know if it will get the water to 0ppm. here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/Hydrologic-Stea...ultDomain_0&hash=item19c776e054#ht_500wt_1054 this is also the unit they sell in the hydro shop i go to, for $100 more. im almost debating getting this one. im renting so installation needs to be easy and under the sink and as little connections and manipulation to the plumbing as possible. i need to buy one today, so i will hook you up with some +rep for some good solid review or info leading me to a purchase of a R/O unit today!! please help a 1st time grower make it easier to get water, lol!!
