so i know everyone is against quick drying because it makes the smoke really harsh and it tastes bad and stuff...but i dont smoke...i vape so that stuff doesnt really apply to me...but i AM concerned about the potency...if i was to put some buds in the oven on low and turn them every few minutes til they're dry...will the potency be crap? like does slow drying maximize the potency of the buds...or can i "quick dry" and still get the potency?

Don't get the oven past 325 degrees if you're going to do that.

You'd probably be better off with a powered food dehydrator or something.

As for potency, whatever was in the buds when you harvested is what you're gonna get with quick-drying. Curing allows other trichomes to finish what few chemical proceses they were doing and ripen up just a bit further before all biochemical activity stops due to lack of moisture and light.

Don't just stick it in a vaporizer though. I read on here someone said he just took small samples of bud and put them right into his Volcano and vaped away. I tried this about a week before harvest and didn't get anything out of it. :(

thats what i've been doing...i dont mind vaping freshly picked buds except that they're REALLY sticky...lol and sooooo many trichomes get stuck to my fingers and pretty much everywhere except the bowl they're supposed to be in...its just that they're a lot easier to handle when they're dry
edit* i just need to dry a couple little nugs to last today and tomorrow while the rest dry normally...im not gonna do this to all of them...lol im not that bad...hahaha

I dried out a few ounces about a month ago using that shit you buy for damp basements (i cant think of the name for the life of me) The smoke was harsh, but was still potent. The only real problem was that it smelled like tea. It dried in 24 hours.

I use dry ice to dry out cubes and it works super fast. Just rig it so that the cold CO2 thats given off by the ice completely covers the buds. I use a tupperware cont. filled w/ mushies and put a little short jar filled w/ dry ice in therewith it. Leave the lid cracked slightly and keep it in the fridge so the dry ice doesn't sublimate too quickly.

The original link used a soda can some how, but I can't find the link or remember exacty how they did it. The cubes dry very quickly and thoroughly. I assume this could work for bud. It has the advantage of not heating the weed.

I think it works becuase the cold CO2 can't contian any moister when it first turn into a gas so the container of cube/buds will fill with the driest possible air.

Osmosis, exactly. It works really fast on mushrooms but maybe because of the enormous surface area on them(More cells exposed to the dry air, right?). Heat drying is probably easier, but I thought this would be worth sharing.

I get it at Ingles, a groccery store here. Some liquor stores have it too. I'm sure you can find it cause I live in bum f*** nowhere.

I don't think it can be made at home simply becuase the co2 has to get much coolder than a normal freezer could get to freeze, I think.
