I don't have any ph up or down, and my plant has a ph of about 7.5 ish, (using the liquid ph indicator) should i add some vinigar? just to bump the ph back down to about 5.8 or 6? I added more nutrients to the mix today, however i just feel as though the ph is too high for the plant to absorb the correct nutrients. if so, how much should i add?

my nutes lower the ph of my water,so if you increased your nutes you may have also lowerd your ph. in your water.theres a thread somewhere on here on cheap ph up and down. to make ph up you need 100% lye in crystal form and ph down is battery acid. the lye you can get at most any hardware store in the plumbing dept. and the battery acid you can get at an auto parts store you have to ask for it.ph up is a tbsp of lye per gal. and ph down is 1/2 cup battery acid per gal. if you do this you will have enough to last you a life time good luck

that and the local hydro store is like miles away, and i just used a small amout of squeezed orange juce ( as it's ohh naturalll) and then some vinigar ( coz i got pissed off with OJ) lol seems to have done the trick, however i am still a bit worried about the ph, i had to add quite alot of viniger to drop the ph to the required level and even now it's still a little bit too high for my taste, around (6.8 ish)

you need to get that PH down before you cause Nute lock out... anywhere between 5.2 and 5.9 is acceptable, you should keep it aroound 5.5-5.8 tho there are plenty of ways to adjust PH and it does take a lot of vinegar or orange juice lime juice etc to change it... keep adding it until you get it down.. DOnt worry about buying shit just to buy it.... I personally use Ph up and down but thats because I already had them before I knew of cheaper natural ways. fuck buying something you dont absoloutely need... were fucking stoners.... we improvise.

Now that you have introduced organic material into your DWC res, your are at risk for root disease. Keep an eye on the roots for discoloration, odor, and slime. If your plants are old and established with robust root systems then you will probably be okay. Best bet is to add beneficial microbes to process the organic material and displace disease, or use only synthetic additives, including PH adjusters. I personally do both.

Everything in my setup for better or for worse is hand made.
except for the tent, and the fans, and meters etc however My cool tubes are hand made, my ballast are just kits that I put in tool boxes, my veg box is hand made. not all of it is the greatest and improvements are being made daily as lessons are learned, However I feel that tho my DIY/improvising style doesnt end up costing me less than just buying what I want I actually learn a lot more. I say use the natural ways to adjust ph, and if the bennies work in my res and deals with my brown slime issue Ill say use them all the time, the reason why is ,... well I dont know how to explain it really... So in summary, Make as much of your own shyt as you can. If you can use things other than store bought products, chemical, nutes, or equipment wise DO IT! you might f*ck up, might not. but I feel doing it this way yeilds the most understanding. I mean, think about this...
One day zombies are roaming the earth and you have to take up shack in some GIANT cave ( We have those around these here parts)
And on the way to this cave you scored some solar panels and all other related equipment, some lights, and some other needed things....but maybe you couldnt find any f*ckin ph up and ph down..... DAMN I guess youd be f*cked huh???

gona half my water tomorow and split it with some distilled water, and get the average water ppm down from 1500, most of this is water from the tap 400 ppm at the start, this could be the original reason why my plant is having so much trouble taking up the correct nutrients, if i over feed my plants ph should go down, as it stands, it has risen in the last few day's and so i think it's the starting salts in the water. i would probably get rid of the majority of my mix and decrease my nutrents by a small amount aswell. only by a few hundred ppm.
