quick question concerning a seedling I just germinated?

ok first time germinating any seed ever, I folded a bag seed up in a paper towel and put that it in a sandwich bag. Wetted the paper towel and put the bag in between the dryer and the wall. I unfold it today and next thing I know there's a long white stem/rootish looking thing with a small green bulb attached. I don't have a camera yet so that's why I'm describing everything. Also, the seed was seprate and cracked open.. maybe I left the thing too long and it's not gonna grow or hopfully planting the contents of the paper towel will be sucessful
opinions?

ok just re read that and i'm pretty baked. not sure when I put it in the bag it was probably a little more than a week ago..
