I am not were near flowering but i was just wondering...does the plant die after harvesting? or can you continue to flower the same plant? thanks

It depends, You can do both.

Most common is harvest the whole plant but some growers will re-veg the plant by leaving a small amount of follige and change lights back to 18/6 and grow it out again. Maybe there clones died and they want to keep the strain or something.

No they don't have to die, but would need to be re-vegged prior to re-flowering. A lot of real nice strains are "captured" this way. It's relatively easy.

If you want to keep the genetics alive (or just want a guaranteed female plant for your next grow), it is preferable to take clones before flowering. That way you can have your next plant all vegged and ready to go when your current one finishes.

You can reveg after harvest, but it is a slow process, and there is some debate as to whether revegged plants can have weakened genetics. Clones are more of a guarantee, plus you save some time between grows.

The downside of clones is the need for a second grow space, on a veg lighting schedule, although it doesn't necessarily have to be anything more than a small box with some CFLs.
