quick CFL light question

My grow space is about 3' high and about 1.5' wide and im having a hard time fitting the big 42w CFLs into it. My question is, does it matter where the lights are inside the box or does the total ammount of light in the box count?

Like if I cant get the lights directly over the plants ( i can now but wont be able to for long ) is that going to matter as long as the box itself is well lit up?

42 wat cfls are not big? or are they tubes? you should be able to get some that fit

Where the lights are located plays a pretty big part in your plants development man, Maybe place the 42 watt cfl,s on the side and get yourself a 4 ft floro 2 bulb fixture for the top of your plants(if your space is long enough).... lighting on the sides of your plants is just as essential as lighting on the tops ... if no light on the tops your plants are more than likely going to grow toward where the light is.... The more cfl power... the better... back when I used them, I crammed as many as I could in their... had over 600 watts of floro power...lol...good luck man...

i have 2 "Y" shaped bulb splitters that i could use but they make a big gap between the bulbs if you know what i mean. I would use those if its cool to have the plants in between the gap.

I set them up one time with the splitters and the plants seem to be well lit up, the top of the plant was getting hit with light and the sides were too, there is just no light directly overhead, its more to the sides. is that cool.

one plant in the box i can fit the lights in no problem, i want more than one plant in there and thats causing the issue.
