Quick bug question

I've got a very small setup in a closet consisting of 2 plants, I've noticed what I think are whiteflies...I've read here and there that spraying the plants/soil with a diluted dish soap / water mixture, then rinsing 15minutes later solves the problem, but I am very skeptical. My main question is what is the most effective / least invasive (to the plant/ myself) way of ridding these pests. Is it necessary to get lady bugs? and if so, will they overpopulate and provide a problem throughout the house? any information would help, thanks!

Soap and water is best and least invasive. Organic farmers use it to spray on organic tomato plants and edible vegetables as it is the best bet to rid oneself of pests the organic way.

First thing to do is look on the undersides of the leaves. You will see the white larva, and can manually wipe them out. Then hang a couple of yellow sticky traps, and the flying ones will be taken care of.

I should just use a little bit of soap in a lot of water? and should i soak or just mist? only the plants or the soil (thats where they seem to live)? More information on the soaping method would be much appreciated. Cheers

Maybe a little more then a small dosage of sope would do good. Yes, spray the leaves. Make sure you spray both sides of the leaves like pot roast said. Get 2 clean sponges and put the leaves between then and slowly and carefully wipe off the leave. This will clean everything off the top and bottom of the leaves. Good luck!! STICK TRAPS!!! GET STICKY TRAPS!!
