Questions on Cropping Vs. Topping?

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a few questions on cropping and topping.

1. Does cropping slow the growth of the plant?

2. Are you able to top the plant, then crop? or vise-versa.

3. Which is more beneficial in the long run?

Any help would be much appreciated thanks.

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a few questions on cropping and topping.

1. Does cropping slow the growth of the plant?

Just a couple days. sometime they pop right back up.

2. Are you able to top the plant, then crop? or vise-versa.

Sure keep it veg.

3. Which is more beneficial in the long run?

Both I think. For my scrog grows I top the plant once or twice while its young and get the two main stems and crop them and fold them under the screen when I transplant them to the flower area.

Any help would be much appreciated thanks.

No Problem.

Welcome to roll it up.

Could you clarify for me what cropping does exactly, i know it makes the plant grow more heads, but doesnt topping do the same thing?

"topping": topping will give u 2 heads insteada 1... if ur nodes r close enuff together, u may get 4... u keep topping each top as they grow ...

cropping(LST, super-cropping,) is to train and menipulate ur plant... u bend the plant sideways which tricks the plant to grow vertical from its shoots at the nodes... the more nodes u have above ur bend (menipulation) the more shoots will grow and become tops... by doing this ur optimizing ur lights cause they will only penatrate so deep, SC will alow those lil buds at the bottem to become tops, by keeping ur canopy short and even.. and ur optimizing ur space cuz u pretty much make a blanket of weed rather then having areas /holes where buds could fit...

supcroppin is so benifical espeacilly if plant nubers is an issuse.. check my journal and ull see what u can achieve with this method, its in my sig...it the way to go jus look at what i got from what i had...
check this link too, it will explain the process and such... check it good if it intrests u cuz every QnA is in there... even 1's u didnt think to ask... cheers

When I was referring to cropping I meant super cropping. Basically its where you fold a branch until it gives and hangs sideways. This slows it down for a couple days but you retain all the new growth and the side shoots get more light. I usually cut of the bottom one, I have let them grow but sometimes they just cant make the bend and go up toward the light. But all and all I think its worth doing, it spreads the canopy so the buds fan leafs all get good light exposure.

Couple more questions on the subject...

1. In theroy if i were to top a plant and have two main cola's. If i were then to crop the two would it then increase to four heads?

2. Should all cropping and topping be done in the vegi stages of life, or can you do it during flowering cycles as well?

Off subject...
1. What are some necessary nutes, during vegi and flowering.

2. Any recommended brands, since there's hundreds to choose from.

3. And when adding the nutes does that effect the Ph level of water?

2. Should all cropping and topping be done in the vegi stages of life, or can you do it during flowering cycles as well? Do this in veg, also give a week or two of rest before going to flower.

1. What are some necessary nutes, during vegi and flowering. Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium

2. Any recommended brands, since there's hundreds to choose from.
General Hydroponics, Botanicare, Dutch Master, Tenchaflora, Grotek, Advanced Nutrients. These are all great nutrients, havent tried most...lots of people around here have tho.

3. And when adding the nutes does that effect the Ph level of water?
Yes definately, test ph of water after you add nutrients.

you may want to choose organic, synthetic or both. i use both types on the same strain...i like seeing the different results each produces. By doing this you get different flavors, highs, and textures from the same strain.
