I'm looking to get a 600 watt hps to add to my 400 watt, to complete my tent. my question is, should i get one with a cool tube, or does it really matter? i will have a 6" exhaust fan and a 4" to bring cooler air in. my 400 watt does not have a cool tube, and right now i only have a 4" to vent it and it stays at 81~ degrees.

i really just dont wanna spend the extra money for the cooltube, and i'm not paying for this stuff so whatever it goes over my buddies budget i'm gonna have to spot him. not that i mind because i'm basically getting the stuff for free, just paying to run it for 3 months and he can use half my tent, then the light/fan is mine forever lol.. just not trying to spend money that i dont need to.

thanks in advance.

You could always just buy the regular set up, and do a DIY cool tube. They look nice and there are plenty of threads on here with instructions and material lists to make one. Good luck!

The cool tube will allow you to get the light closer to the plant than one without. You want the light as close as you can get it for best results without burning your plant. Get the cool tube.

i have a 8x4 tent with two 600w hps in i use a a 6" exhaust and a 4" intake, so long as i have no heating on in the room it stays lower than 85. if you are worried about spending just leave the cool tubes out, you can buy them for your next run. i recently bought some for another tent i have and they do work well at keeping temps down. i'm in the u.k and its winter here so the naturally cool air in the room is enough for now, you will need them for sure come summer.
