Question on transplanting

ok, well just wanted to say hey again, I am still new to the forums, but have been reading for a while, I have a problem and a question, i was just transplanting my 3 plants today, and i kind of pulled off some of the roots during the transplant, and one of my babies is hunching her leaves in, did i kill her? i could not find anything on this, but i thought id ask sorry if there is a thread, is there a post on proper transplanting? thank

thanx im hopefuly, but so upset that this happened, this is my first grow, and i know accidents were bound to happen, but this may be a noob question but if the plant has alot of roots in, how do you guys transer your plants? turn and lightly twist? or cut the container open?

depending on the pot, i soak with water for 10 minutes, hold pot upside down with your other hand ready to take weight, making sure plant is between your fingers, and tap away on bottom of pot, and hey presto, shes out.
if not in pot, just cut away the container, better safe than sorry.

Personally, I transplant when the soil is dry, and only after the plant has a well-established rootball. I simply squeeze the sides of the pot to loosen the soil from the pot, hold the plant at the base of the stem, and gently pull the pot away. I don't bother with this "upside down" stuff, since with dry soil and a proper rootball, everything stays in one piece anyway.

I then repot into fresh soil, which has a premade hole (using the previous pot size as a guide), cover with a bit more dirt, and water thoroughly.

I have done many repots in this fashion, and have never seen "transplant shock", or had any other problems whatsoever with this method.
