QUestion on Rockwool cubes

So some seeds are waiting to be germinated. Ive never done this before and these rockwool cubes I got say to soak in a starter solution adjusted to 5.5ph.....wtf does that mean? I know what ph is, but dont have the means of measuring it yet.

I will be transferring to soil after they outgrow the rockwool. I do have advanced nutrients, micro, grow, and bloom though I dont know how to use them yet. So is it ok to soak the rockwool in just plain water?

you should go to pet store and get some PH strips
atleast that should get you in the ball park for your Ph.
I think it just might take longer if you have Ph nuetral water to grow in.
I know for a fact that if you try to grow in anything thats above pH 7.0
the plant don't grow for shit.

I tried telling a friend one time that our city water has a Ph of 8.0 and that you need a lower Ph, we both started our seeds at the same time
in two month the Branches on my plants were bigger than his whole plant.

Go to Walmart, the Aquarium Dept and get some pH test strips, or the liquid pH test kit that comes with a small test tube. Or go to a Swimming Pool Supply Store or Swimming Pool Dept and get a pH test kit. Or a Health Store for ph test strips for urine.

Just to make sure....the same liquid ph up and down for hot tubs I can use to adjust the ph for watering my plants, and soil/nutrient ph balance?

yah it should have just Sulfuric Acid in it.
I get the aquarium Ph Down at the pet store.
You should only need the Ph Down, your nutrients will want to
rebound the nutrient solution back to 7.0 pH

I've also heard of using Vinegar. I've never done it before
I don't know what kind to get, just something for you to know about.

Can you elaborate on the theory that I only need ph down?

Normally your PH is always too high, PH up is only used usually when you accidentally put in too much PH down. There are occasional uses for PH up, but I will go through 10 bottles of PH down before 1 bottle of PH up gets used.

I've had problems with seeds trying to push their way out the hole in the cube before they've had a chance for the root to bite in. Nowadays I like to flip the cube over and poke my own hole in the bottom. You can make it the right depth and it will hold the seed more securely in the medium.
If you do end up finding a liquid pH test kit, check the scale to make sure it goes low enough, many only go down to 6.0.
