question on reflectors

Ok here is my next question.

Actually I would like everyone's opinion.

When using cfl, wouldn't it be better to utilize a reflector with the cfl so that most of the light is directed at the plant.

It just seems to me that without the refelctor alot of light is wasted.

Especially since with cfl you have to be close

I also figure if your walls are painted flat white, or you use mylar, or aluminum foil that by the time the light reflects of the wall that it is too far away to do any benefit to the plant.

Just wondering what everyone thinks

And finally if you use reflectors on the cfl wouldn't that eliminate the need to paint the wall flat white, or use mylar or aluminum

For sure i use em.
Right now they're just home made, out of deep dish pizza pans. I know its not the best, but i have them hanging on chains, able to move them, or my pots very close together for max side lighting.
Check my post, you can kind of see what i made in the pics. One for front, one for back.
Thinking of cardboad covered in mylar hanging, same way for next grow. The pans didn't create any hot spots, but did raise temp 3-4 degrees. Not a big problem though, plants seem to thrive at 85.
Peace

I use a reflector. But IMO I think painting flat white or covering it with mylar does help with reflecting "some" light back. Thus utilizing all of the light given off. I also believe that if you paint the walls white or cover it in mylar the walls won't absorb the light and produce heat. But that's just me.

I also have flat white walls, its actually poster board but double layred it works good
