question for DIYers...

I know people are building flat panels but is it possible to build a vertical LED configuration as a DIYer? I was think of a series of thin panels that were joined together in (maybe) an octagonal shape and then suspended vertically. Would it be possible to build something that consumed around 200 watts without breaking the bank and using top shelf components?

I know nothing about this kind of stuff so sorry if this sounds completely dumb.

You can hang your modules horizontally or vertically. It makes a lot of sense to use side lighting especially if you are very limited on space as most indoor grows are.

You can do it with T5's and probably find plenty of those journals as a baseline of what to expect...

So, I'd have to say absolutely - why not? And depending on grow style it may be optimal even. I had 2 x 8 bulb T5HO's sitting on each side of a single plant and it surprised me...

I have not done my own tests to confirm this but all the graphs I have studied show MH and CMH to have worse lumen maintenance than HPS.

LEDs are available in 4 ft tubes, but they can be expensive. LEDwholesaler has some for < $40, and they sell the tombstones. Making an octagonal vertical frame will require some skill

You might consider A19 bulbs + multiple vanity fixtures and hang them vertically

cmh has far higher par numbers and the highest cri..
