Im thinking about getting the 6" HO can an and the can 50 filter. Im just wondering if someone could tell me if this will take up too much space in a 4x4x6.5 tent. I noticed the dimensions of the can 50 are quite large. Anyone have pics of a similar size tent with fan/filter and lights installed in it so I can see how much space there is to work with once everything is setup?

That is a large filter for that small of a tent. If you're cooling the lights and can get them close to the canopy, it might work. There are lots of other filters on the market that can do the job that are long and thin. Check out Phresh or Mountain Air. Some of those are refillable too, although I've heard that's a major pain in the ass to do. Keep lookin bro, you'll find what you need.

I was considering phresh and mountain air filters. which would you recmmend? I was kind of leaning towards the mountain air; heard a lot of good things about them.

I've seen both of them at the local hydro store. They're so close in appearance, I suspect they're both made by a third company and Phresh and Mountain Air are resellers. The spec sheets I've seen are identical. I say pick one that's the size and shape you need and see who has the best price.
I personally have two of the giant 4ft. Mountain Air. Both of these are supposed to last three years, while Can filters are good for one. The 38specials, even less.
If you haven't bought the fan yet, check out plantlightinghydroponics.com. Best prices on Vortex fans on the net. You can actually buy a Vortex for the price of a Can!

thanks for the link bud but Im in Winnipeg so its cheaper for me to go downtown and buy an expensive fan than it is to buy a cheap fan online and pay for shipping. And honestly I dont see what the big fuss about vortex fans are.. marketing maybe. Vortex supposedly puts out more airflow but thats exactly what I dont want. The can fan HO cfm's match up PERFECTLY with the filter Im getting so a vortex fan would copromise the efficiency of the filter. And if you have to turn it down anyways, who cares if it puts out more?
If the vortex is quieter I would understand, but I havent heard either of them
