Question Cfl's

Im starting my new grow! I'll combine indoors/outdoors for vegging and ill switch to just outdoors for flowering..I just got a few household cfl's that put out 1173 lumens 24 watt each(says it consumes 24 but puts out 100W whatever that means), u know those energy saving fluorescent bulbs... How many of these should i use in a small room for my small three day seedlings (3 of them)?

the more the better put in as many as you can
what size grow room?

for 3 plants, eventually I would imagine you would need at least ten of those bulbs you mentioned. Surely you can find higher wattage cfls somewhere. The 42 watters put out about 2700 lumens. If you could get six of those you would be good to go. check out the grow journal of the guy with the snoop dog avatar. He is flowering one plant with a bunch of cfls that are similar in size to what you have mentioned.

thanks spliffman ill try to get those 42 watters u mentioned, Dew-b The room is 2 meters X 1/2 m ( 6.56X1.64 ft i think) but ive made a small inner compartment for seedlings which is around 50 square cms for my seedlings.. ive got two of these bulbs in there and up to now evrything seems ok , growth is steady.. but ill add more bulbs as the growth increases

what about 105 W Cfl's any idea if they'd be any good? 6900 lumens , sounds cool but has any one tried them? 105 Watt Compact Fluorescent 5000K Full Spectrum

Dude those lights are pretty serious. Haven't seen anything over 42 at WM, HD, or Lowes... Nice find!

Does anyone know if its better to get those at a higher color temp for veg? like 6500k? or is 5000k good?

google is a valuable tool, so google CFL's and you can find like 200 watt cfl's. also if you might be able to find them at Lowe's or a local grow shop if you're near one.
