ok, now that I got my 2nd grow under my belt, i want to step it up a little. I was wondering though, how come all the bud at the dispencaries smells the same? they all have that medicine kush smell. Are they doing something to get that smell, or does it just happen to be the strains they have? Thanks in advance

my best bet would be its the strains as most all mj has its own unique smells.. like i think kush smells really earthy, and i call it the coffee smell, lol.. idk, but kush smell reminds me of coffee for some odd reason.. and of course skunk strains will smell like, uh, skunks.. not kidding.. i grew some super skunk for my first grow, and they had to be the stinkiest smelling buds ever, but they didn't smell like kush, they smelled like skunk..
next time you go to the dispensary, ask to smell two very distinctly different strains, like i said, maybe a skunk and a kush, and i'm sure you will smell the differences..

Er, maybe its because all the smells combine into one coz there's so much there. Try getting three different strains, take them home, and then do a smell comparison.
Im sorry, but your question, to me, sounds just like if you'd asked - why is it when I go into starbucks I can only smell the espresso?

I read about a marijuana strain (cant remember the name unfortunately) which the seedbank claimed that once you smelled that one you wouldn't be able to smell the others in your grow room. Im guessing that the more pervasive strains will always dominate, and its these that you'l smell in the shops. I reckon ask them for a sweet fruity variety, a spicy haze variety, and maybe a thai strain if they have it - in my experience they all have distinctly different aromas.
