Question about size of rockwool in WaterFarm system

When using the WaterFarm system, is it better to place a 4" rockwool cube partially burried in hydroton, or to plant the 1" rockwool cubes in the hydroton?

I really doubt it really matters, it's up to you to make the choice. obviously the 1" cubes are cheeper if you look at it that way.
