Question about selecting a mother.

Hi, i have been learning a lot here, ive been reading about this stuff for years, and have never found anywhere else to be quite as informative! Thanks for all the help this far, and now for my first post.
Im still in the early stages of my set up, but i want to eventually have a few mothers to grow SOG style. My question is how do i get that original mother plant? Ive looked all over the place, here and in various books and i cant seem to figure it out. I know its supposed to be an awesome female that stays in vegetative state its whole life. If im growing from seed, how do i know its going to be a kick ass plant, or even female for that matter, with out flowering it. I have read that its bad to switch a plant back to veg, and take clones.
Maybe i missed something huge, but ive been trying to figure this out for a while.

yeah you take some clones while its in flower,
wait for them to root
then put the clones into flower!
and the clone that comes from the best of all the females you end up with you grow out and use as your mother

make sure to top plenty to get lots of cloning spots!!!
 
Well you can grow a wack of seeds and find the healthiest plants in the buntch, Take a clone or two from each and root them, flower these clones to find females, Remember to mark or number them so you can remember where they came from. then you will know witch plants are female, Keep the healthiest females to be your mother's.

and actually, if you let all the plants you grow from seed get to about 8 nodes high, top them back down to 4 nodes and use that top as the clone to test for sex...

that'll help getting bushy mothers goin...
 
what you want todo is take some clones from the plant you might makeyour mother plant. then when the clones have roots put them into flower to determ the mother's sex. then if you like the smoke keep her as your mother plant. to learn how to clone if you don't know how read the grow faq at the top of the page. gl on your grow
 
Yeah, i think i got it, basically, i could clone them all, keep track of all the clones and where they came from, after i weed out the males, get rid of the male clones. i could then veg them all until i decide which ones are the best and use them as mothers. I hope to have 2-3 different strains of mothers to choose from.. this should be fun :)

And in my opinion BOO the lowryder hemp plant
 
its just has a lower potency than lots of other strains on the market

BECAUSE OF the hemp bread into it... but that hemp had the auto flower traits that oh-so-many people love

but the potency doesnt affect the high, right? so do you think i shouldnt get lowryder? i kinda have my heart set on lowryder, also which one is better lowryder 2 or 1? i was leaning to 1
 
low ryder 2 has the strand santa maria bred into it, and i hear it gets a bit more harvest and potency from that

and the potency very much affects the high... less potent will get you less high...

low ryder makes sense to a lot of people for a few really good reasons... it might just be perfect for your grow...

but like i said... to each their own!
 
ya it seems perfect to me, maybe ill get lowryder 2, but it takes longer :'( but ya it is perfect because where im at, the height of them is perfect for disguise and i can plant em all over, and if they are more potent then less likely to be found, but i heard that potency doesnt affect the high its just a good sign that you will get a good high
 
if you are really into the lowryder, there are a bunch of crosses all sold by a site... i think its "soul seeds" or something like that... let me find them and i'll post a link for you!
