question about diy carbon filter

ok my plants are 2 weeks into flowering now and starting to produce some smells, i have my filter built and i have the activated carbon, i was just wondering do i have to do anything to it to activate it or just put the activated carbon into my filter?

you were going to do to activate it?

no, you just use it how it is. nothing you have to do.
