Question about cloning from a mother/ recovery

So I've been trying to find how a mother plant recovers after you take a cutting for a clone.

every thread i find is about the clones rooting, blah blah.

I Just wanna know when you take a cutting will the place where you made the cut grow back as long as you did it above a node? Like topping/fimming?

Or does it not grow back at all?

I want to clone this plant for the experience. but after I get every bit of information on it first.

In my experience it doesn't continue to grow from the same spot you cut. But if there are side branching from that branch below where you cut the stem the other site should continue to grow.

If Im just babbling then ignore my comment.

If you take clones from branches and leave 2 nodes on the node you get 2 new branches?

Pretty much.

It's exactly like topping. You remove a growing tip and you've effectively 'topped'. Even if it's a side branch.
