Question about cloning for sexing

So i want to cut my veg plants and flower the cuttings to sex them. My question is, do i need a good size cutting like i would take for a clone? The cutting doesnt have to root it just has to live long enough to show sex, so i could theoretically take a much smaller cutting right?

I have made some pretty small clones lol. Just needs to have enough plant matter to survive on it's own until it shows sex.

i guess it all depends on how you take your clones, but you can use a cut as small as you like as long as you can keep it living and healthy, ya know so it doesnt die of infection before you see sex. but most often than not when ive grown from seed the males show sex way before the females. you should also see signs of preflowers or presexing, how old are your seedlings? typically the seedlings are not sexually determined until after 4 weeks of veg growth.

The males are often the tallest plants too, so don't count your meds before they are sexed ;)
