Question about CFLs and Seedlings

Just wondering, does it matter how many lights you have on your seedlings, and the distance they are from them? i can grab the CFL bulbs and not get burned.

What im asking is, does it matter how close or how many bulbs you have on your seedlings? As long as the room and ambient temp are alright, shouldn't more light = more growth?

Thanks.

at seedling you wouldnt want much direct light but when it gets its first true leaves a cfl would do fine

keep em like 4'' from the top or do the hand test put your hand at plant high if to hot for your hand to hot for the plant.

i have four seedlings under 2 23watt and 2 42watt cfls right now. they are bout 4 inches away from them. i could put them closer but i feel that they are a good distance away unless they are gonna stretch then ill move the lights closer abit..

there was a guy that had his on a 13w bulb and it looked pretty decent for how old it was i forget how old i wanna say like 2 or 3 weeks. you could get by with just a 26w bulb or so for a few weeks prolly and add more as they get bigger and need it. keep them close as possible without touching the leaves or theyll stretch. their not hot but they w ill burn the leaves if they touch the bulb
