quantum light build footprint question

im building a set of quantum lights too cover a 4x8 area i was originally looking to build 2 hlg 550 clones but it ended up where i have 4 (2 board light on a 8x26 heatsink).

my question is would i be better off leaving the lights as 4 units with the possibility of adding a pair at a later date as im replacing 2 1k hps bulbs and dont really wanna lose on yeild but 12 boards over a 4x8 maybe way overkill honestly

i also really think that if i ended up mounting the pairs together that it would make the whole setup a bit easirer to deal with i know im gonna lose a tad on yield over the hps bulbs but for the most part im more interested in the power consumption as i pay dam near 200 a month to run the 2k hps + 3 or 4 fans and a dehumidifier

thanks guys

Should work very well, bro! And you get probably a lot more bud with 10-12 boards compared to 2k hps. Even with 8 boards you should not yield less. 2 boards and a HLG-240 is IMO the best combi and gives you more flexibillity.

yeah really thats what i figured lol but 16 - 24 ratchet ropes might get a bit out of control but im sure i can find a elegant solution maybe ..... lol but u sure 1600 watts of quantum boards whould not be bat shit crazy over my trays ?

Nope, you can always dimm the light down if it's too much. All MW HLG drivers(A-version) have a built-in potentiometer which allows 50-108% dimming. Yeah, that's a lot ratchets but you could also make frames for more than two boards.

I can give you two tips. First, try to keep the ambient temperatures between 25 and 30°C/77-86°F and secondly, remember that plants need more nutrients under strong LED light.
If you keep this in mind, you will not be disappointed!
