qb build add ons

Going to build a fixture with the 3000k 304 qbs. I was looking into stuff to add to the spectrum. I was originally thinking of adding some cobs. But what about adding (840-870nm) , UVA LED (390-400nm), CREE XP-E Far Red LED, CREE XP-E HE Photo Red (660nm) LED. . I haven't done the star boards before. Would it be worth it to add these and how many. Should I go with the solderless ones? Going over a 4x6. If so what would be the recommended place to get them. Iam also up for others ideas.

It's been a little while since I looked at the ir and uv diodes, but max current in them was quite a bit less if I remember. I think you'd want a couple different circuits if you decided to use them all. Probably wouldn't hurt to throw some rows of photo red and far red between your boards though. Maybe 1 far red for every 3-4 photo reds and space them out about 3 inches. In a 4x6, maybe 2 or 3 4' bars like this, however the spacing on your boards work out really. I'm just guessing based on seeing other builds. But I think rapidled has kits for this.

I added a total of 12 of the XP-E's in a mix of 660 and 400 that are driven by a LPC driver. I manually activate them during flowering and they add quite a bit of light to an already bright COB array. My rail uses aluminum channels so I just epoxied solderless pucks to the aluminum and that's the sink for the discrete diodes-doesn't even get warm.

Check out the "Yet Another UV thread" , that will sort you out on the UVA/B side. No idea about the far reds, but I would like to know what others think too.

Growmau5 completed a grow with uvb and he had less than stellar results. It could be strain related. I would get some baseline results with just the QB before adding anything.

I think he powered his with an old phone charger.

Yea I seen the growmau5 grow. I was only thinking of adding uva which he said wouldn't harm the plants and get the desired results. Am I right in thinking that?

@welight interesting. what driver would I need to run say 4 of the 660 linears
660nm will run at 14.4V each so 6 in series will be 86.4V, at 700ma you will be at 60 watts, so a driver that runs to say 75 watt and say 90volts, alternate is to series parallel them so 2x3 would be 2.1amp driver at 45 volts, do you have any drivers already/
Cheers
