Need help in figuring out and fixing this problem. The stalks on all plants are purple but the growth seems alright. Im thinking it’s a mag/phos deficiency and was gonna add some dyna gro mag pro to see if it fixes it. I have been feeding with foliage pro at 5ml per gal also use protest at 1 ml. Any ideas on a fix for this problem I usually run into this but not this bad

Look past it...

I fought this for a long time- every “cure” I could find to no avail. I then realized the smokes great and plenty of it... so I just roll with it and don’t worry about it anymore..

good luck

So u guys think they are healthy
Looking at what you feed
And what your leaf look like I think you should pull it out and look real close at the roots to see if you got root aphids.

Come back let me know.

It could also be lock
I mistakenly gave 5ml to some in a organic mix thinking it was water to seedlings. They looked just like that purple stickly thin plants after.
Check aphids 1st because of the leaf
Then check the EC I think your feeding to often as well.
I don't know a fix I just throw them away and start over because yield will suffer probably quality too

It’s sulphur mate. Had the exact same issue.

Fed them 2tbsp per gal of Epsom salts and the purpling went away over night and hasn’t returned.

You can see in the photo here. Exact same thing on two plants. Purple stems gone completely. Now all lovely lush green stems :)

Use sure it wasn't magnesium tho? Epsom salts has lot of mag in it as well. what ppm did the Epsom salts give you at 2 tbsp per gal?

I’m not aware of magnesium causing purple stems.. I could be wrong though.

Epsom salts is magnesium sulphate, hence where the sulphur comes from.

Oh the ppms where around the 1,200 mark? Really high but garden sites recommended between 1-2tbsp. I went with the higher does due to a Mag deficiency. Just noticed how it cleared up the ourpling of the stems..

Either way they loved now. Now I’m on my flowers nutes which contains sulphur they are staying green.

Purple petiole is usually Phosphorous deficiency. Look at the NPK of the Foliage pro: 9-3-6. It is low in phosphorous, especially if you are using an inert soil like pro mix.

What causes the purple in the petioles? I ask now because all mine are like that, but growth still seems good. I am not doubting you at all, but I am now concerned with my soil underfeeding mine.

So I tried an experiment on my ladies with the purple petioles. Made a tea with straight high phos bat guano (good source of cal and mag) about a week ago. The purpling has stopped and been corrected. I’m guessing this was a Mag deficieny from the reading I have done.

Nice to see you got it figured out :)
