Nobody really knows the genetics of the original purple haze. I feel that it was probably a variety of different strains that were given the name because of a purplish tint caused by low temperature. Not necessarily produced by the same grower and not necessarily related, other than just being of the sativa species. People selling weed on the street and calling it purple haze probably have no clue what they are talking about because if it ever was a single strain, it probably doesn't exist anymore in the same form. The purple haze being sold by seedbanks now is a newly created strain that is a combo of different sativas. Whatever you smoked in 2002 could have been a number of different strains. In my experience most purple weed sucks, it just looks pretty. But I did find some once that was really good. I wish I knew what strain it was and where I could find some. If you end up buying that new purple haze, i would really like to know how it turns out. I've been thinking about trying it myself, but I guess it's really just the name that makes me want to get it.
