‘Purple’ Green Crack

Well thought I’d share some signs of mild light stress and how it can deceive you.

Top buds are starting to fox tail now with loads of white hairs but the middle/bottom buds are far more ripe.

In my experience chopping autos past the breeders time leads to a more relaxing high. For some reason the trichomes amber really fast with these plants.

Im aiming for a more uplifting high and will quite happily sacrifice a few grams of stonier weed for a more uplifting effect.

Also got some yellowing happening on the middle leaves which looks to be N def. this happens under intense light where if there is a deficiency it’ll show on these leaves - not a liner progression up the plant which N is associated for. Although when middle leaves yellow there will be yellowing below if not then it’s more likely another issue.

I’m patiently watching my first autos approaching what I believe is there last couple of weeks. Banana Kush (Pacific Seeds).
Not the case for mine as of now, but do you find that the leaves start to yellow as it finishes up, indicating it’s sucking out the nutes for a final bloom push before dying? Just curious if I should look for this.
Yours looks great, like the purple.

They usually yellow from 2 things. Lack of N in bloom
Feed or low pH

I grew 3 of the green crack all different the one I’m finishing now looks like your purple thought I had bud rot.
There she is! I really enjoyed the smoke. Found some left over a few weeks ago funnily enough and it smokes great. Very uplifting, no burn out towards the high at all. Tastes like musky lemon berries.

Shame it’s a pot luck (pun intended) as to whether you get a purple one or not.

How were the other 3 you grew? Was the high/flavour good?

100’s …. If not more .
I run perpetually so my grows are in rotation.
Same here, I’ve seen way more purple expressions vs photos. And I don’t have cold temps, 70’s lights off is the coldest and it’s usually closer to 80. Leds if that matters. I’ve rarely gotten purple phenos from seed/photos but with autos it’s like super dark purple not a speck of green.

The purple pheno trait is from not only the parental lines of the cross but it can be environmental.
Cooler temps can bump it. Purple weed strains are caused by genetics, as well as growers using various techniques to create a purple hue. Growers may cool the room the plant is grown in during the flowering cycle and cool the roots by using ice. Cannabis plants also tend to naturally have more purple during the fall months if they are grown outdoors. That being said, purple weed strains are indica-dominant a lot of the time, so if you prefer an indica over sativa, you might prefer your plant to be purple. However, this is not necessarily the rule and there are plenty of strains that are purple and fall into the category of sativa or hybrid.

Ruderalis is the “ third wheel “ of the cross - basically for the speed characteristic. It is lower in thc. But autos are unpredictable.
They can vary in structure , parental lean genetically , symmetry, feed requirements ( even from same batch ). Most auto offerings are first gen , with some breeders further refining the strain for more continuity.

So “ purps “ can show regardless ,
