Thought id post this here to show what kind of progress you can get with some LST practice. This is my first grow. In the journal you can see what the clone looked like when I first got her. Shes just starting her flowering cycle as of last week.

Ummm, that plant doesnt look lst'ed at all.

This is LST.

We all have different methods of "LST". Thats a really good one, if you look through my journal you can see how much my girl has benefit through it.

Edit: If my girl started out like yours, which is looks like from seedlings, then yes it would of maybe looked like yours. Minus the duct tape. ew.

Thrawn that plant actually looks really good. I was afraid of bending my stems and snapping them in half so, I tied the strings as tight as I could. We will see what happens in flowering =)

Sorry I wasn't trying to sound like dick, I had yet to see any string pulling branches away and down. At first I thought you had just let your plant grow and for some reason threw on the "LST" label in your thread title. You'd be suprised how many people toss around terms like LST, HYDRO, DR CHRONIC (this shit is the Dr Chronic!" etc etc. But yea, looks good man. Can't wait to see them in flower.

Oh and as far as the duct tape goes, hahaha, yea it looks niggarigged for sure. But with so many heads, its impractical to use screws because it gives me no versatility at all.

By the way mate, have you looked into those DIY threads on making cheap reflectors for CFL's? I've seen folks that rig them up with cut coke cans and swear by that shit.

Oh I was just bustin ya balls on the duct tape =P. You havent seen half the shit ive mounted with duct tape. My LST happened more towards the 1/4 in veg'n, not from the beginning. If you really take a glance at my journal, the first page will show you how I lst'd it. I KNEW I should of tied her down more but I was really scared since its my first grow :-|. But shes treatin me well. You didnt sound like a dick at all buddy, matter of fact I might use ur method, it looks like ur using some kind of twine. I used fishing line lol. Im tellin you I got this clone when she was 9 1/2'' tall, hard to LST her without worrying.

Dang its funny you mentioned DIY im bout to google it because I see the name thrown around on different threads. Thanks alot thrawn I appreciate you subscribed and all. I really need some good opinions. Dont worry ill try not to go post crazy. :peace:

Edit: I know yall dont have time to click into journal and scatter through JUST the first page (small joke) but heres what she started her lst. Criticism is very welcomed. Mammath and a couple folks were right about bending her more. I should have but im truely impressed by how much LST can do to a plant

Thrawn: after looking at your girl 40 times and the lst, i decided to go back in there and tie her down more. Ima gonna snap some pics...tell me what u think.

The most important part is the cross tie. If the stem isnt to thick, take some thick string, tie it around 2-4 inches up the stem and then secure it to your pot. THEN take another piece of string (yarn works really well, it doesnt damage the stem) and tie it about 5 inches above the first tie. Then secure this tie to the complete opposite side of the pot as your first. This pullls your stem in a 90 degree andgle without uprooting your roots!

i like it mate. check out my grow i should update pics. i'm more into the low style. you are nice to your girls. i've learnt that it doesn't matter too much if you treat them rough. the lower you go, the more growth it seems :D

i've since killed one of mine but my bigger lst is a fem so i'm happy. keep up the good LST work

The stem has become alot thicker then before. Ive tied a string around the base of it..about 1/2 inch up (Mammath had also informed me about uprooting). So you think I should tie another one and tie it above my first one? I went ahead and tied her down ALOT more last. Opened her up big time, hope that isnt bad during flowering (even after seeing youre beautiful girl i still worry :-|). Ill have to upload pics when she wakes up at midnight.

Thanks lstme. This was my first and I was really scared to go alot lower like everyone was saying...I did wait though until she got used to the LST and now ive been able to bend her all around some more. Ill definately be looking into youre grow as well. Thanks alot :peace:

You'll be fine LST'ing in flower. Its not ideal but I did it on my first grow and it worked bloody wonders. And yes, if you can get that cross tie around the plant, you should be able to slowly bend it over the course of a couple of weeks. Since your not to far in flowering I would do a little every day. (This is where the duct tape works nice, since you can move it down half an inch every day.) Good luck brotha

Alrite thrawn 20 minutes im bout to turn her on and snap pics of some more stretching. Ill post it in my journal also.

Before I practice more LST:

I know it isnt to much but I will be carefully pulling on her more as she goes along in flowering. Hope she doesnt uproot.

great job. not only have you spread the plant out a bit, but your giving it a alot more surface area to absorb light. One more thing. Using multiple strings per branch is a good way to really control where your branches are going. If you can, tie another string around the last node of each bud and pull down, this will force it grow outwards until it can rebend upwards towards the light. repeat repeat. If you are having trouble bending the main stem down, you could tie a string around the top of the cola and pull to the side over and over until the other buds have caught up, thus giving you that wonderful even canopy.

Thanks thrawn. The multiple strings you are talking about I did start last week. The smaller growth with stem support are being tied down :hump:. I think I will be bending that cola instead of the stem here in a few days. Ill more then likely tie one right behind her instead of all the way to the stem. Thanks again thrawn + rep (2 days ago :P). I guess I kinda got this lst down so ill just post on my journal. Take care and thanks again :peace:
