pumps that oxygenate and deliver water simultaneously

Sure. And these do exactly that PLUS add air directly to the stream. Just a little extra aeration before the water hits the medium. A little gimimicky, but for the same price...why the hell not? I will be testing these.

Almost all aquarium pumps include a venturi fitting and a rubber air tube for this very purpose. The air tube connects to the pump's output and has a liquid separator/float that allows air to be drawn into the pump's output flow by venturi action.

That's what this one has- it just seems this mob are charging extra* for the venturi bits, while other makers just chuck them in the box with all their pumps.

*edit- or not- I can't find a non-"Oxy version" of this pump. Since all pumps usually include the venturi fitting, this is a bit like advertising a car for sale, 'now with windscreen and headlights!'

O right, ok. I didn't check aquarium pumps, all the groshops over here only seem to stock standard water pumps, without the venturi thing. Its news to a lot of the growers I know...my local hydro place didn't have a clue haha I'll turn everyone on to the aquarium supplies then, they're probably cheaper. thanks AL

this pretty much sums up the UK [except the windscreen and headlights will be broken]

Hydro shops may as well be aquarium suppliers- a number of items needed in small hydro systems, air pumps, water pumps, air stones, etc., are identical to those used in your average fish tank.

Hydro shops stock their shelves by shopping the local pet supplies wholesaler. Maybe you should, too. Yes- you will save some dough by going to the source.

I set myself up a company number so wholesalers would sell to me. I bet they're a little miffed that I don't buy truckloads of stuff like a retail shop does, but they sell to me at wholesale prices as though I were a biz anyway. ;)

smart man!!!!!

LB, it was as simple as applying for the biz number, never had to formally set up a 'shelf company.' All my local wholesalers care about is that you can produce a biz number. Then they can sell to you without sales tax.

They also then sell at wholesale rates- and once you know what the local hydro shops are paying for stuff compared to their retail pricing, you'll absolutely shit yourself. I learned A LOT about the greedhead character of the jokers running retail hydro shops when I got my first wholesale catalogue. 100% markups over wholesale price are the LOW end. 500% is not uncommon.

And that's just the difference in retail prices between the pet shop and the hydro shop.

The 450L/hr pump they're selling in this shop for 15 quid comes from my wholesaler for $AUD8.00 (UKP3.74)... WITH venturi fitting. Can you imagine what my wholesaler pays for them?

madness. I'm gonna investigate how to set up a similar thing over here, for sure. You must save loads! You save money on weed, and you save money on the things you need to grow weed...goddamn
