Pump Filter Bag?

Has anyone used these before? Are they worth the money? I read they help filter out the water from being cloudy and also prolong life of the pump.
 
i've used one and wasn't happy with it, kind of restricted the flow of the water a bit. and you have to wash them clean with every res change.
