Hey RIU,

I usually dont think pruning is a great idea but on 2 of my LST projects it seems i have some fan leaves (Indica dom it appears) that are blocking the light completly from the nodes trying to work thier way up to the top. should i prune these couple of leaves to get some light into the underneath of the plant to promote the nodes to stretch up to the canopy? or will patience bring them up just fine?

i dont want potential tops to become popcorn nodes due to lack of lighting in veg. heres some pics

I think if one leaf is covering a bunch of shit underneath I'd cut it. I did heavy pruning on my current plants and I don't think it hurt them a bit

You can also pin the leaf back until growth gets past it to speed it up. If its a big healthy fan leaf Iu really don't want to cut it. Think of it as a big solar collector for the plant not just itself

yeah, well like i said i usually frown upon cutting, but moving it one way just covers more of another node, these small plants have about 12 nodes right now and i plan on flipping them next week.

it sucks its kinda d dammed if you do dammed if yo u dont deal , just not sure which option is going to be the most benificial to my plans for the plant

I tuck them under until they are all taller then I unfurl the leaves. If they turn dark before then I cut them.

You really defeat your purpose in IMHO by cutting a leaf in hopes of getting the corresponding branch to grow. The branch you are wanting to get light needs that leaf as a source of energy, per se. Until that branch starts putting out additional fan leaves it will draw much of its energy here, instead of having to have it supplimented from another branch. Most of your usuable light is going to past through your fan leaf anyway still providing with enough usuable light to grow in veg.
