really depends. But about 4-6 weeks if grown in good conditions. Lighting will be a big factor as obviously more light the faster shel grow. But with standard lighting and decent soil maybe 5 weeks or so. Some people get there plants to mature in 3 weeks but i have no idea how its done. If you have an auto flower then the story changes big time. It could start budding in 4 weeks, or 5 or 6. Whereas non auto flower will start to mature around that time and wont be full flowered for about 9-10 weeks. from seed that is

if you feed basic veg nutes and slowly raise the level you can veg a plant under 12/12 if you use mostly blue spectrum light

You can get a plant to grow without flowering under 12/12 for anything from a few weeks to a few months depends on the temps and the lights and what you feed them as well as the strain

but lots of blue light will slow flowering and make the plant grow more branches

The big benefit is you get more females often if I`m growing "regulars" (not feminized) seeds and I want the most females I can get then I start them under 12/12 giving high humidity and good levels of N then once I see hairs I`ll take the females and either veg them or put them into a higher power bloom area with more red light.

Huh .sounds interesting. I deffinitly can't knock it till I try it. But I love a good long veg . Get some minimonsters

great information. was not aware the 12/12 increased the chances of getting females wonder is using 460 actinics with 6500k during veg than switching them out for 3000k or full spectrum grow bulbs for flowering will help control timing

I think more red band gives you bigger flowers but of course comes with more heat and taller plants too

GA3 seems to hold back flowering a bit to a lot but it will give you some very stretchy plants under red spectrum

So I normally stick with triacontanol it makes flowering plants finish shorter and if used in veg the plants get way more bushey

I`ll use ga3 right before taking cuttings sometimes as the cuttings seem to be able to grow and root a lot faster but it`s a lot easier to lose them if you let them dry out or so on

Plus some strains like to hermi when they get ga3`d

Evoponic make something called "plant steriods" and also I think a mother plant supplement pgr whatever you want to call it that seems to elongate buds and cause plants to grow straight up a lot more then most "boost`s" would

I think it must have ga3 or something like it in it its great to use to get a plant that`s been harvested to re-shoot as is ga3

I think a lot of the time people waste a good plant when they harvest it as if you have the time you can save a few branches on it and get it to re-shoot

Hell I`ve veg`d a harvested plant under 12/12 in the same area and pot I flowered it in and finished it again for a 2nd time

If the roots are still fresh then you`ll get good tasting bud but if your roots are turning bad due to the plant being old or over fed or over watered then better to just take a cutting off of it and start with a new root ball.

Let me spell it out for you. The bottom line is - a plant will not flower until it's "mature"; no matter what light schedual you give it! That is typically about 4 or 5 weeks.

If a plant spends those 4 or 5 weeks under "12-12 lighting", it receives X amount of light energy. If another plant spends those same 4 or 5 weeks under "18-6 lighting", it receives X and 1/2 amount of light energy (50% more). So, if larger size/yield is your main concern - that's a pro for 18-6 and a con for 12-12.

On the other hand, that 4 to 5 week period is just a "best guess" situation. With a "12-12 light schedual", the plant will flower as soon as it is ready - no delay or quessing involved. So, if a quicker harvest (albeit a somewhat smaller harvest) is your main concern - then that's a pro for 12-12 and a con for18-6.

Niether method is, particularly, "The Right Way". It's all according to what you are trying to achieve.
