Proposition 64 is a trap?

Hey guys,
I just read this article about some pretty grave downsides to the upcoming proposition 64:
http://herb.co/2016/10/11/californias-proposition-64/

To me, it makes it sound like legalization for recreational use is a bait to get a piece of legislation through that could be used to do all sorts of things apart from raise tax money that then won't get used where it'S supposed to be?
What do you guys think of this?

It very well may be. But, think of all the shit that will change for the better. There is no longer any legitimate or logical argument against recreational marijuana use. Even the most modest taxes on it would raise a shitload of money for local and state budgets (whether or not the cash goes where it should),but the best thing about it is it would free up the justice system by removing all of the bogus drug cases clogging it up, and it would encourage more responsible use. Just think of all the jobs it would create.

There is no question that complete legalization is long overdue!!!

However, the formulations that apparently are in that proposition seem worrisome to me.

When you and I think of jobs being created, we think of the friendly dispensary, the rosy cheeked herb farmers, and all that.
Whilst the proposition would allow changes to itself with a simple majority.
For example: only big corps are allowed to have their hand sin the canna business.
Or, certain quality tests, which only big corps can afford...

That Letitia Peppers has pointed out how the way the proposition is worded it is bound to do more evil than good?

quality test is only $100. I think the Prop 64 is a good thing, its not perfect, but its definitely much better than just having a MMJ legal defense once they bring you to trial. Most cops will just use it as an opportunity to look the other way, since they don't like dealing with MMJ stuff (they don't make the laws though).

Will be voting yes.

Also, big corps wont be allowed to enter the game until 2022 I think. Until then, 20,000 sq feet is the max space allowed I think (about half acre).

quality test is only $100.
Yeah I was just trying to illustrate how dangerous it seemed to me - here in Europe, we have just seen such testing become mandatory for herbal medicines, which pushed tons of products from small producers out of the market. Oh but yes, big pharma has alternatives, so we're taken care of, right! haha

As far as I have understood it, the AUMA is a sort of blanket act that will have the regulations (which would include how many sqft and all that I presume) appended to it.
But that the way it is written it becomes dubious by creating loopholes for changes that would be - well I can give in to "not as bad as it is now" - but definitely not towards something really good.

So isn't there a way to get the proposition reworded so it doesn't have all these flaws and your rights are truely protected?

See...my post just got deleted...they don't like people to have open minds or freely discuss important issues... This mod has special interest all over him.

Educate yourself people. Not telling you how to decide...just make sure you read it fully.

(See Mr mod...I'm not forcing an agenda and only encouraging people to be educated) I have no ties to any lobbying group. I'm a concerned California private citizen)

Don't bring the mods into this. This is one of the best places to be if you want to express yourself freely. If your post got deleted it is because you fucked up and said something retarded. Stop saying retarded things and you will be golden. Vote Pinworm for Mayor.

I may be Canadian but watch what's going on in the states very closely as a lot of it parallels what's going on up here.

It's only natural that the corporate agenda is being catered to by the politicos. They know which side their toast is being buttered on. Both our countries are run by the corporations with the politicians dancing to their tunes so none of it is new info.

More so in the states but not by much I'm sad to say.

I read that article you posted the link to Calliandra so thanks for that and it looks like another non-starter to me. I believe the last prop to go for a vote in CA failed because of pressure from the big cash crop growers who were fighting against much the same corporate takeover of cannabis culture as what Prop 64 is looking like now?

Pretty much the same thing is going on here. Our previous despot, Herr Harper, set up LPs, Legal Producers, as a way to start a corporate takeover of medical cannabis. The new one got in by energizing all the stoners in our country to jump on his bandwagon with the promise of legal pot for all. Typical Liberal Party tactic. Trudeau the Younger has steadfastly refused to at least decrim simple possession of pot until the new laws come into effect. He also put a corrupt cop, Bill Blair, in charge of setting up a panel to come up with the new regulations and he put a corrupt anti-pot, failed politician at the head of said panel.

Luckily our Supreme Court has seen fit to rule in the favour of medpot patients for the time being but it's all up in the air until the gubbermint reveals it's agenda sometime next spring or summer. Until then I will just keep growing my own like I've done since '78.

Good luck in getting a good law!

:peace:

WTF?
This whole forum is more or less a cesspool.
The whole thing would have to get trashed if all posts were to get deleted just because they were fucked up.
I am not amused :(

I don't want censorship on this thread, thank you very much, admins.
And I'm sorry that happened, @Icemud420 , you take on this would interest me very much.

Ok, but you do not know about that specific individuals posting history. He is a loud mouth, deadset cunt. Every other post of his is a complaint about moderation on this site. Everything that happens is all the mods fault. You do not have to worry about it, though, because you are posting good info and have a refreshing and delicious point of view. I apologize for my shitty comment towards him, but if I didn't say it no one would.

I enjoyed @OldMedUser 's post. He made some interesting points. No?

Tru dat Calliandra!

You're the OP of this thread and if you don't request the removal of a post then it should stand so you and others can properly kick the offender's ass in public.

I went to a thread a couple of days ago because it's title said pot pics with the wife's boobs tossed in to make it interesting but by the time I got there Sunni took out the boob pic citing "no nudity here". WTF! Boobs aren't nudity, they're art!

In Canada here a woman has the right to go topless anywhere a man can tho they certainly don't do it as much as I'd like. ;) A woman in Maple Ridge, BC went to jail riding her bicycle down the road topless and that's how we got legal for public boobs. People walk naked for pot and don't get busted for that.

No one wants to see RUI turn into a porn site but if a guy wants to show off his wife's assets along with his plants then where's the harm in that?

:peace:

Yeah @OldMedUser, I see a bunch of interest groups there - people profiting from illegality on the one hand, big corp on the other. The medical users, who depend upon being able to medicate with a minimum of resistances. And somewhere in there, the good old stoner who just wants his peace and quiet too... whereby I don't get the feeling a single word caters to the interests of the latter two.

And then the complexity of the interrelationships between different Acts and Laws, it's rather confusing for an outsider (and probably for californians too)
Making regulatory writing so difficult to understand fully is one of the tactics of maintaining control.

In the past year, I have seen politics become ever more brazen, flying in the face of the "little man on the street" and enriching themselves, not as it used to be, behind closed doors, but out in the open and declaredly. I will never forget how Merkel said they'd just buy the whole country up during the Greece crisis...
Wow so they are now certain we're all well asleep and will let them do anything they want because we're so busy scrimping and scratching and working two jobs and all that just to get by?
It's just scary, what I'm seeing...
