Property taxes should be a one time payment. By paying property taxes each year you do not own your house the government does. Bunch of thieves.

Property taxes are an example of might makes right. The term "ownership" is not applicable if a lien exists or is used as coercion to extort money. The fuedal lord is still alive and well at City Hall.

Assesments never, ever, ever, ever go down where I live. Only up. They are also very aggressive with their assessments. Many here would choke to hear my property taxes on a nice but by no means fabulous townhouse near a major city.

You can fight the raises in assesments...but you will have to devote quite a bit of effort to do so. They make it painful.

The government sucks always. Alright? It REALLY is THAT simple.

BTW: Welcome to the world of conservatism. Homeowners in my wild guesstimation have to be 80% conservative. Once you see how many ways we are taxed...you start resenting it.

Property taxes is a good example of the COUNTY GOVERMENT saw the home owner being raped by the Federal Goverment and the State Goverment, and said lets turn this into a bigger gang bang and rape him too.

In the eyes of the govt. that's not really your land, that's not really ur house. You need to pay every year a tax for the very existence of it. I would prefer a sunset rule on property taxes. At least a large percentage should fall off after 10 years. This would keep ppl in neighborhoods and help build communities.

I think it would be fair and help keep communities together. Far too often ppl put their lives into a place to make it nice, but when they hit their senior years, that niceness they helped create makes the taxes go so high, they must leave. And that's not right.

Or, once you pay off a house, that's it..... you pay a small percentage from then on.
