Proper handling of Mycellium query....

it's back under the sink safe and sound:) just took it out for a peek...lol! As far as casing goes I do have pre-sterilized casing soil which I was planning on using:) any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as always!!!

do not sterilize your casing, you will be restarting the race, and mushroom mycelium rarely wins. Pasteurize your casing, bring it to field moisture content and then expose it to 160 - 175 degree temps for several hours.

I think I was wrong about it being sterilized.... if you look at the link it specifically says "pasteurized"... I mistakenly interchanged the terms... sorry about that!!

took another peek tonight!!!! looking good!!! both bags are thriving!!! considering doing the first flush in the bag.... yes? no??? anyway... ty in advance for any input you offer!!!

getting close to the time where I have to make a decision!!! Hoping to hear from you guys... option one: first flush in the bag.... option two: remove the colonized substrate from the safety of the bag and case it... and one additional question... I know the temps have to drop while fruiting, but realistically what temp range can I safely operate in... constant 72-73 in my bedroom... 75 and up (depending on the weather) in my living room??

I don't think you need a temp drop to fruit.
I've fruited without lowering the temps from 80s.

Casing or fruiting in the bag is up to you!

Either way will do fine most likely if you keep the conditions right.
Good luck!

Ty as always morfin.... you've always made me sign out for the night feeling better than I did when I logged in. I WANT to case... but on one hand I have people telling my not to "upset" the substrate... not to handle it etc... so how the hell am I supposed to case it if I dont break it up and cover it with my casing mix??? lol!!! I dunno... maybe I'm tired... but this is one STRESSFUL venture...lol!!! TY TY again my friend... tomorrow is another day I hope:)

Case. Case. Case.

believe me, no matter what others say, casing makes a huge difference. Temperature drops work for pinning orchestration but they are not necessary for just your ordinary fruiting. .

Ty Canndo!!! Just the push I needed!!! I guess its just a waiting game now... at the rate it's going I think it should be nearly colonized in a few days and then I will prepare the fruiting chamber and case the bags... I will get pics up when everything is good to go;) fingers crossed!!! ty again!!
